I finally heard back from Hobbywing, the way they worded their response, "it won't do that" I suspect they broke the telemetry on recently shipped ESCs. Thanks for the support..

As we mentioned previously, we have specifically purchased a new Fun Fly 120A ESC and the telemetry is working correctly.
The answer you got from HobbyWing could therefore be the only explanation for the lack of telemetry in your ESC.
It does not, however, explain why the telemetry works with the newly purchased FunFly ESC. Perhaps it has been in the shop warehouse for a long time.
If it is true that HobbyWing has decided to remove telemetry from their FunFly ESCs, we think this is a big mistake. Motorized aeroplanes and gliders that do not need a governor will be heavily penalized.
Furthermore, by only providing telemetry with the more expensive Platinum ESCs, they lose the economic advantage over their competitors of being able to sell a cheaper, governorless ESC to users who use their own flight controller governors. At this point their competitors' heli ESCs (e.g. Scorpion) will be priced much closer to the price of their Platinum ESCs.

For reference, I bought 4 of the flyfuns, 2 from China in Oct 2020, and two more from the US distributor in Feb 2021. I tested/tried 3 of them, both China units, and one of the US units.

Unfortunately, I don't see a way to know what the firmware version or date is for these devices.

I'll have to check the Scorpions...In my quick look, for the features, the Platinum seem well priced compared to the competition...even some that seem to be rebadged Platinums...

Thanks Braindev. There was one gem, nowhere else have I seen the information that telemetry is only transmitted when the motor is being driven.

However, this does not seem to help me:

Archer RS; F.PORT.

Ch6

Ikon governor @ 2000, 2150 and 2300 RPM

I get telemetry for RPM and for Fuel, but not VFAS or Current (my main interest). The last flight was configured fully and correctly.

What is fuel?

Sorry for the delay in replying, but the question "What is fuel?" was hidden under the file links and we missed it.

As stated in the release notes, the "Fuel" parameter is used to receive the transmitter's "Global Vibrations" value, which should always be less than 200 during hovering or slow, normal model movements. It is acceptable for the value to increase above 200 only for very brief periods during fast and/or violent maneuvers.
Unfortunately, OpenTX does not provide any default telemetry parameters for vibration telemetry and therefore "Fuel" was used (as other drone controller manufacturers have had to do).

Thank you for this information.

However, it is not clear from the post if the problem is present on all 4 flyfun ESCs you purchased, or the problem is only present on some flyfun ESCs and on which ones. Are all the same version/power?

Thanks!

Braindev,

Of the 4 I purchased, I've tested 3: and none of the three worked with telemetry. All are Flyfun V5 120A. I have the package from the US purchased pair, pn 30201400, the same p/n appears on the invoice of the two I purchased from China (packaging long gone).

Actually, I looked at these again, the two units from China are labeled as 3-6S capable, the two I got from the US distributor are labeled 3-8S capable. The fit, finish and wires are are nearly identical (down to the burnt-red color battery lead). Aside from the label mentioned, the only difference I can see is the size of the text on the s/n label (the labels are the same size).

A new version (3-8S capable) would suggest that a new version of f/w exists...

Again, of the 4 units I have, 3 units were tested, and none work. The last is still in package.
