Hello there,

I'm a Brain/Ikon user since the beginning. I have a dozen units, v1 and v2's, actually, I'm using no other units. But I have a Brain2, which had two attempts to destroy two of my heli's in different times. It's working just fine, flies just fine, but sometimes, it gets crazy. First time, it was on a Goblin 700 comp, I hit the thr hold, and heli made a full nosedown. Second, it was on a goblin nitro, in the middle of the flight, heli started to act like I was giving full left cyclic command. Full right command was working, every other command was working, rescue was working, but when I released the right stick, heli was flipping to the left continuously. It's sitting in a box for a year. What can I do with this unit? Thanks in advance.

Emre

Good morning,

we're sorry for the problems you're having with our units.

To help you, we need you to send us three files of your Brain2 unit:
1) The configuration file (from the file menu "Save config.to file")
2) The Events file (in the DIAGNOSTIC section, tab "Events" button "Save to file")
3) Any Flight Log (in the DIAGNOSTIC section, Recorded Logs tab, first download a Flight Log from the unit with the "Download Data" button and then save it with the "Save to File" button)

If you could, it would also be useful to receive the configuration file of your model saved from your transmitter.

If you prefer, instead of uploading them here on the forum you can send them as an attachment via e-mail to customercare@msh-electronics.com.

Hi again, I've found out that if topic was private, I can not see any other post except my own posts. Anyway, here is the files from that second accident day, except tx model setup file. But I always set my models same way, so it is probably the same as that day.

We cannot understand your problems related to reading messages on this forum.
You writes that you cannot read our answer but that you only sees the messages written by you and not our answers.
Yet you sends us the files we asked you for in our message that you writes you can't see.
How do you know what we asked you to do without being able to read it?
We really can't understand.

Your problem is due to a strange Swashplate setup.

If you go in to the Advanced section, "Common" tab, CCPM, you can see that the swashplate Type selected is "CCPM 120°" (and not the Reversed "CCPM R-120) but the setup of "Servo Angles" is for the reversed CCPM R-120.

WrongCCPM

This is a contradictory setup!

Please, go to panel 6 of the Wizard and click/select again the correct icon of the kind of swashplate used on your model, then you can return in Advanced and see if now all is correct.

Then check that swashplate movements are correct.

If swashplate movement are not correct go into the panel 5 of Wizard and:
- Check that the cursor movement correspond to the transmitter sticks movements as stated in the lateral instruction (don't look at the swashplate movements). Otherwise reverse the wrong channel on your transmitter AND NO MORE CHANGE THIS!

Then go into the successive panel 7 of Wizard and:
- Check that SRV-1 of the top left displayed swashplate is connected to SRV1 input of the unit, SRV-2 in to the SRV2 input and SRV-3 in to the SRV3 input.
- If required, correct swashplate movements with “Servo Reverse” button.

As I explained before, if the topic was private, I can't see any other posts. I didn't open the topic as "private", I thought that, moderator made it private, due to it's a personal topic. Since than, I make the topic public, read your messages, and make it private again.

Thanks for your simple explanation. You are deffinitely correct, this kind of mistake leads to this failure.

But in my case, as I setup any heli, first I reverse my required tx channels referring to  tab5, after that, I calibrate all channel endpoints in my tx, even the tail gain. After that I go to tab6, and select the type of swash and rotor direction. I never go to cppm tab in advanced. As I said, your suggestion is the most simple and correct one, but here is my problem. If I would made this mistake, my two heli's couldn't leave ground. I flew with them till the accident. I think that this happened in flight. Is it possible?

When you load the setup without changing anything, you see that swash type selected correctly in tab 6, but tab7 shows us the wrong type. Why is this  happening?

After the first accident, I made a factory reset to the unit, loaded the most recent firmware, tried it in a disposable 450, re-trusted it, than I put it to my gobi nitro. I really want to trust this unit again, if there is anything I can do for it. 🙂

Since the unit was released in 2012 until now we have never seen this thing before (but it may have happened in other cases that have not been reported to us or we had never noticed before).
As a result, we will soon release a new version of the Windows software (and Android and iOS apps) where we will introduce further checks and inspections so that this combination can not happen and if it should happen, it does not appear that the swashplate is correctly selected.

I'm happy if I am helpful for the best Fc would be even better 🙂 So, should I keep my unit in the box, or can I trust it to fly? What is your verdict?

As in any other forums the first three messages of a new user must be "manually authorized and moderated". This to avoid spamming in Forum posts.

Now that you have already writhe the first three messages probably from now you can see all messages.

For your last request: "can I trust it to fly?":

According to what has been written, your unit has never had flight problems except when the AutoLevel / Rescue has been activated and has replaced the pilot's commands.

If only one of the radio controls is reversed in panel 5 (input) and this error is compensated by reversing the outputs, when the auto Level takes control of the model and sends commands with correct directions, the output commands will be reversed because the outputs were reversed to compensate for the error of the input radio controls reversed.

So the answer to the question is "Yes, you can fly quietly".

For the auto level, you can do a simple check before using it. Immediately after landing when the rotor has almost stopped, at that moment activate the auto Level and check that the swashplate is positioned horizontally.
If this check is successful you can then try activating the AutoLevel for the first time in flight but at a high altitude so that you can recover from any problems by immediately deactivating the AutoLevel.
These two tests should give you all the confirmations you need.

A question I forgot to ask:
Why was the AUX channel (AutoLevel / Rescue) activated so many times and repeatedly towards the end of the flight?

That part of the flight was the problematic part. Heli was behaving like it was given a full left command. I was trying to level the heli while looking for a place to land safely. Before that, the flight was very smooth.

Since your model is a Nitro model with high vibrations, you have used a softer double-sided tape as indicated at the bottom of the instructions on page 11 of the wizard "Softer tape is NECESSARY on comustion models" ??????
We have tested many tape and the best is the Futaba tape used for Futaba Gyro.
