In a five-year-old post, I asked about being able to enter the configurator directly in Demo mode from the command line (since Port Scanning was taking so long). BrainDev kindly explained how Bluetooth connectivity works under Windows. (See https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=855867&highlight=Command+line#post8004903)
Eventually, this functionality was added, and we can now enter Demo mode directly from the command line (using the -demomode switch).
I'm getting back into the hobby after a three-year gap. I've got four Brain2 BT units that I am constantly swapping between as I try to get these helis flyable again. The Bluetooth scanning time is considerable, especially as we now have more and more Bluetooth devices connected to our devices these days. I'm requesting to see if we can add a command line parameter to determine which COM port the configurator should attempt to connect to. Something like -COMn where n idetifies the port nuber to be used.
Thoughts?

Unfortunately, what you are asking for would be too complicated to achieve. We will see if it can be realised.
Thanks, appreciate that.Unfortunately, what you are asking for would be too complicated to achieve. We will see if it can be realised.
I note, in passing, that if I reconnect the same heli to the same computer, with no other BT in between, the configurator starts up quickly as if it remembered the last COM port. But I guess from your answer, that is a function of how Bluetooth works under Windows. Is that correct?
On an associated topic, in the Android App, you get to select the heli you wish to connect to. I assume you can enumerate the BT list. Would it be possible to suppress (using a checkbox or similar) those that aren't helicopters, so that it is easier to locate and select the required heli?
If so, would something similar be possible under Windows?
Both functions are handled directly by the Windows and Android operating systems.
In the next update, by adding the option ‘-comselection’ in the command line, when the configuration app is run, a small window appears first for selecting the COM, which is useful for those who have paired more than one Bluetooth module with their PC and do not want to wait for automatic recognition to complete.
